Educational Technology Planning

Activity: Mock Tech Plan

  • Break into smalll groups (of three) by grade-level or other meaningful criteria.
  • Select one "goal" you'd like to plan towards.
  • Create a measurable "curriculum" goal describing what students and teachers will learn or do.
  • Then create a corresponding goal (to support your curriculum goal) for each of the following areas:
    • Professional Development
    • Infrastructure, Hardware, Software, and Technical Support
    • Funding and Budgeting
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Create a PowerPoint (or Google Docs) slideshow to present your goals. Email your slides as an attachment to markdwagner@gmail.com (or add me as a collaborator on your doc).

What is important to include in the district technology plan?

Part II - The Ed Tech Profile (~25 Min)

Introduction to the Ed Tech Profile

Discussion: What would be the best way to implement the Ed Tech Profile as a tech planning tool at RBUSD?

Part III - The Supplemental RBUSD Technology Survey (~25 Min)

Year One Strategic Objective

  • Create, distribute, analyze and report to the Superintendent and the Board of Education the results of a district-wide technology survey. (By February 1, 2010)
  • Possible Tools: SurveyMonkey.com or Google Docs Forms.

Discussion: What questions would be best to include on the survey? And how would this best be implemented district-wide, especially given the need to also implement the Ed Tech Profile?
